Obituary of Rosemary Hamilton

Rosemary Hamilton, 70, of Norristown, died peacefully at Chestnut Hill Hospital on April 16, after a short battle with cancer.
Ms. Hamilton, raised in Alabama and Freehold, NJ, was both an accomplished artist and a beloved teacher in the Colonial School District. A graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, Rosemary was a member of the Prince Street Gallery in NYC. Her work was shown in more than 25 exhibitions in a wide variety of galleries and she was the subject of numerous magazine and newspaper articles. She is survived by a nephew, William Hamilton Varner, his wife Catherine and their children Julia and Will; her cousins Thomas Sternfield, John Sternfield, his wife Julie and their children Emma and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her mother, Zelda Hamilton, father, Andrew Jackson Hamilton, and sister, Theresa Hamilton Varner.
Ms. Hamilton is remembered by her students in an emotional Facebook page, "Remember Rosemary."
A celebration of her life, organized by her students, is being planned from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 5 at The Highlands, 7001 Sheaff Lane, Ft. Washington, PA 19034. Friends are welcome to attend.
