Obituary of Mary T. Sabia
Mary T. (Molly) Sabia (nee Kern) 90, of Lafayette Hill passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, at the Villa in Flourtown. She was born in Abington and was the daughter of Edward and Mary Kern.
Molly was the beloved mother of 9 children: John Jr. (Ginger), Donald (Gina), Edward (deceased), Matthew (Anne), Thomas (Re), Nicholas (Meg), Mary Ciammetti (Pat), Dan, Christopher (Suzanne). She also had 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who adored her. Molly was preceded in death by her husband John J. Sabia, son Edward and grandsons Eric, Victor and Christian. She was also preceded in death by her sister Betty and dear twin brother Edward "Buddy" Kern.
Molly was a proud graduate of Beaver College and after college was Phys-Ed and Science teacher at Raven Hill Academy before starting her family. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church for close to 70 years, where she volunteered to read story hour to first graders for 20 plus years.
She had many friends, and her kindness was shared with all. Molly and John were members of Cedarbrook CC for many years, where she became an avid golfer and tennis player in the years after raising her children. She would often beat, not only her husband in golf, but also her teenage sons. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, though maybe not too fond of cleaning all the football uniforms!
Molly enjoyed traveling the world with John and friends, but her real love was her faith and family.
