Obituary of James B. McKeon
James B. McKeon
“Smiling James”
October 1, 1988 – May 5, 2022
James was a natural in every sense of the word. His unique presence was a sparkle that could disarm the hardest heart.
His athleticism: A ridiculous arm and accuracy (ambidextrous) from the age of three! He could pitch, rifle a football, knock a T-shot 300 yards and score that winning goal! To watch him skateboard was to catch a glimpse of his best alacrity, free flow, always in the zone and breezing forward with his funny cackle laugh and big smile. A talented glass blower, he loved the slow, meticulous intensity of the process and the beauty of the translucent, fragile end result. James had a knack for creating moments of pure joy, flow, and love in a chaotic world.
Above all, James was unapologetically himself. His spirit too bright to be contained by this world (or these words). His unconditional love for his family was infinite. His smile, laugh, big squeeze hugs and radical kindness will live on as a beacon for all those who were lucky enough to know him.
Polite, kind, in motion all the time. Head to toe in ink, his body, a work of art. James was a hippie spirit who had so many interests. He loved his Siamese cats, collected owls, loved biking and hiking in natural surroundings, gardening, and photography. He loved the city, was a minimalist, lived “van life”, loved traveling in his van, by train and plane making friends from PA to CA and beyond! He saw and experienced life to the fullest. James loved music and followed the band Phish this past year. I can see him dancing, not a care in the world, taking it all in. This was James….
The anguish we feel will never heal. Our lives are dimmed. We know intrinsically James moves around us. In the light, the love, the energy and the universe. That is what will give us respite, reprieve, and hopefully someday, repose.
James is Preceded by his (Maternal Grandfather), his namesake, James Siciliano.
