Obituary of Joan L Volpe

Joan Lucille Volpe passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2023 at the age of 88. Joan is survived by her daughters Michele Pasquarello (Steve), Jeanne Volpe, and Lisa Copertino (Dave), and her grandchildren Jessica, Gwen, Sara, Julia, and David. She is preceded in death by her husband Alex, Her parents Frank and Mary Capaldi, brothers Fred and Frank, her sister Norma, and her son Butch, and granddaughter Alexandra.

Joan grew up in Conshohocken, PA, and graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1952. She spent many happy weeks in Philadelphia and  in Beach Haven with her beloved grandmother Lucie and her Aunts Martha and Mary and cousin Joe.

 Joan was a tireless worker with a sharp intellect. She got her first job at the age of 15, and worked variously as an executive secretary, Realtor, and bookkeeper, and assistant in a Law Office. She worked tirelessly right up to the age of 80. Widowed at the young age of 34, she raised her four children on her own as a single Mom.

Joan was an inveterate reader with a great curiosity about the world. She had an affinity for nature and animals. Every dog and cat she met took to her immediately. She loved word games and puzzles, and dominated at Scrabble. She was a music lover and and an excellent, very much in demand, jitterbug dancer in her youth,

Joan was the keystone of her family. The one who you called on when things got tough. You could always count on her cool head in an emergency and her loyal support in all things. 

Her strength, generosity, and spirit will be remembered always with love.
