Obituary of Carolyn S Walter

Carolyn Schofield Walter, 93, died on May 7, 2023 at her home in the Masonic Village, Lafayette Hill, PA. Carolyn was born in Philadelphia on September 4, 1929, daughter of Harold B. and Sara (McKay) Schofield and is predeceased by her husband, Marvin L. Walter. She is survived by her children Valerie Walter of Chesterbrook, Vivian Doelling and husband, Michael of Cary, NC, Jennifer Vastardis of Chesterbrook and Eric Walter and wife, Gretchen of Gilbertsville and by two sisters Mary Alice Quigley of Las Cruces, NM and Stephanie Moser of Levittown, PA. Carolyn has 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always remembered special days and particularly loved the new babies. 

Carolyn graduated as valedictorian from Langhorne-Middletown High School in1946 and post high school worked at Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia. She began raising her family in 1952 and then rejoined the workforce as a Pharmacy Technician.  Carolyn received her Associate’s degree in General Studies from Montgomery Community College in 1981.

Carolyn and Marvin were fortunate to have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe. They enjoyed many vacations with the extended family at the Outer Banks, Costa Rica, and the Jersey shore. Carolyn was an avid reader and enjoyed writing short stories, poetry and her memoirs. She volunteered at a local elementary school assisting children with reading. Carolyn was an active member of Messiah Methodist Church for almost 60 years and had a particular passion for outreach programs. She was also a dedicated bridge player and enjoyed her garden.   

On Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10:00 all are welcome to visit the family at Messiah Methodist Church, 527 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill.  The service will be held at 11:00.  A private family luncheon will follow.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to Messiah Methodist Church or William Jeans Memorial Library, 4051 Joshua Road, Lafayette Hill, PA.
