Obituary of Nancy L Langerfeld
Nancy Lyn Langerfeld (Frederick), 67, a life-long resident of Lafayette Hill, passed away after a long illness on June 20th, 2023.
Nancy was the eldest child of Walter and Gladys (Wohlschlegel) Frederick. She began her nursing career at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA, where she moved to the Emergency Room – a passion she always knew she wanted and kept for almost 40 years. Her profession eventually took her to Montgomery Hospital and then Einstein Montgomery Hospital, during which time she received her BSN in nursing from Drexel University. She retired in early 2020.
Her enthusiasm for healthcare and patient care also contributed to her service for the Whitemarsh Ambulance Association, where she volunteered as a Paramedic for over 40 years – several of those years as Assistant Chief. She was proudly among the first paramedic graduating class in Montgomery County in the early 1980s.
She also had a deep love of Christ and Christian Ministry. In addition to her countless performances at St. Peter’s Boars Head Festival and her time in the Messiah United Methodist choir, Nancy also volunteered her time to the Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church and became a Certified Lay Minister for her congregation.
But above all these accomplishments, Nancy would say her greatest achievement was that of being a grandmother. Affectionately known as “Nana” by her 4 favorite people, Nancy took immense pride in being a grandmother to Colton, Brian, Keegan, and Kellen. Her seemingly endless amount of love for her grandchildren was something that no one would ever be able to miss.
Nancy is predeceased by her parents, as well as her beloved grandson, Keegan. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Gene Langerfeld, her sister, Laurie Walters (Frederick), as well as her two children, Robert “Bobby” Langerfeld (Brianna (Burrell) Langerfeld), and Kristen Moser (Langerfeld) (Daniel Moser), as well as her grandchildren, Kellen Langerfeld, Colton Moser, and Brian Moser.
Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday, June 29th, 2023 at Messiah United Methodist Church (527 West Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill). A public viewing will be held from 9am to 11am with a service immediately following at 11am. Guests are encouraged to stay for a luncheon at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Messiah United Methodist Church as well as the Keegan Cares Initiative through the Adalyn Rose Foundation.
