Obituary of Diane E Collins
Diane Elizabeth Collins (Shookowsky), 82, of Lafayette Hill, PA, peacefully passed away on October 4, 2023. She was born in Philadelphia to Josephine and George Shookowsky on November 9, 1940. Diane, a woman of unwavering faith, graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians and Little Flower High School.
She embarked on a rewarding career as a Medical Administrative Professional, working with multiple physicians in the Philadelphia area. Later, she served as the Assistant to the Dean at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following that, she worked with Wissahickon Orthopaedic Specialists. Diane found joy in managing Garden Gate Antiques in Chestnut Hill before retiring.
Diane relished her summers sunbathing and her winters indulging in Hallmark movies. She had a deep affection for DooWop music, enjoyed shopping, and passionately supported her beloved Philly sports teams. Diane actively participated in The Roxborough/Manayunk Lioness Club serving her local community.
Diane is survived by her son, Wayne Collins, Jr. (Nicole), daughters Kimberly Quinn (Scott), Kelly Guller (Charles), and Sally Comisarow (Dale). She also leaves behind grandchildren Alyson Comisarow, Jake Guller, Joseph Guller, Daniel Guller, Elise Guller, Jaxon Comisarow, Kaelin Quinn (Emma), and Conner Quinn (Sophia), as well as numerous nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Wayne Collins, her younger brother, George Shookowsky, and her eldest grandson, Jeffrey Schaefer.
Diane will always be remembered for her kindness, quick wit, and extraordinary generosity, which she graciously extended to all those near and dear to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 815 E. Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128, on October 10, 2023, at 9:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Westminster Cemetery, 701 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd. Lownes Family Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
