Obituary of Jane Schultz
Martha J. “Jane” Schultz, age 85 of Blue Bell, died Friday, February 2nd at Montgomery Einstein hospital with her family by her side.
She was a retired schoolteacher for Plymouth Whitemarsh School District where she worked full-time for 7 years until having a family and then later returning as a substitute teacher,often as a long-term sub. She was also active in the PTA at Wissahickon School District where both of her children attended.
Mrs. Schultz was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was thewife of the late Terrence R. “Terry” Schultz and the daughter of the late Walter and the late Lily Gilinger of Lafayette Hill, PA.Jane was a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ursinus College where she was also Homecoming Queen and a member of the Kappa Delta Kappa Sorority.
Jane was an active member and volunteer of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church and assisted in their annual Boar’s Head Festival, was a member of Circle and participated in the Annual Harvest Festival where she sold her delicious baked goods along with those from the congregation for the benefit of the church.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time at her house in Avalon, NJ, her numerous dogs and she loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed dining out, playing Bridge and attending as well as hosting the monthly “Card Club” with friends.
She is survived by her children, Susan J. Hessler (Michael) of Harleysville and Stephen T. Schultz (Joanne) of Andorra; sister-in-law Patricia Panacek of Lancaster, PA, as well as her two close cousins, Jean Matthews of Blue Bell, PA and Barbara Heisel of Cleveland, OH.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 8th from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Rd., Lafayette Hill, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Barren Hill Cemetery, Lafayette Hill, adjacent to the church.
