Obituary of John B. Curtin
John B. Curtin, age 67, of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away on February 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 14, 1956, John grew up in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Neil and Louise Curtin.
John was a resident of Lafayette Hill for nearly 40 years, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity. John is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Anne, and their four children: son Ryan, daughters Courtney, Meghan, and Kelsey, mother-in-law Teresa “Mimi” and their dog Boomer. He was the cherished middle child of seven siblings: the late Neil Curtin, Tom Curtin (wife Kate), Anna Curtin (husband Don), Libby McGrath (husband Jerry), the late Jo Miller (husband Bruce) and David Curtin.
John was a dedicated lacrosse coach at Ashbee Lacrosse Club, Springfield Lacrosse Club, Norwood Fontbonne Academy, William Penn Charter School, and the Philadelphia Young Quakers. He was deeply committed to mentoring young athletes and he left a lasting impact on all that he coached.
A lover of Long Beach Island and surfing, John lived for glassy waves and warm summer mornings. His passion for the ocean was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He was an avid nature lover and enjoyed long walks in Fort Washington State Park and Valley Green.
A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor at St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill on Saturday, February 10th at 2 pm. A Visitation will be held at the church before the Funeral Mass from 1-2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in John’s name be made to the Philadelphia Young Quakers (via the Netter Center for Community Partnerships) or Alliance for a Living Ocean.
