Obituary of Joan Healy
Joan T. Healy (nee Stephens) passed away on March 11, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 96. She was born on April 14, 1927, in Philadelphia. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and Jeopardy enthusiast. Her strong faith as a devoted Catholic guided her through life's challenges.
Joan was the private secretary to Doctor Harold Scheie at the Scheie Eye Institute. She spent countless hours helping others and was actively involved in various organizations, including the Immaculata College Alumni Association, the Women's Board of Roxborough Memorial Hospital, and the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute. Her dedication to a life of faith, hope, and charity was recognized with the Neumann Award.
She attended Holy Family Catholic Elementary School, John W. Hallahan Catholic High School, and Immaculata College. Joan worshiped at Holy Family Church in Manayunk, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Roxborough, and St. Philip Neri in Lafayette Hill.
Joan is survived by her son, Patrick Healy, daughter-in-law Kim Healy, daughter-in-law Peggy Healy, son-in-laws Michael Murray and Gwyn Griffiths, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Healy, Sr., daughter Anna Katherine (Kate) Healy Griffiths, son Joseph P. Healy, Jr., and daughter Mary Healy Murray.
Services for Joan will be held with visitation from 10 - 11 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Avenue, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444. Her funeral Mass will be livestreamed. Link to the livestream will be posted here.
