Obituary of Maryann K. Hudson
Maryann K. Hudson, aged 90, of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away on April 17, 2024, at Paoli Hospital. She was born on April 24,1933 in Frackville, PA the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Snitzer) Kushwara. She attended high school at Immaculate Heart Academy in Fountain Springs, PA and was an accomplished pianist throughout these years. She went on to study nursing with a specialty in anesthesia at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, PA earning her CRNA upon graduating in 1957. Throughout her career which spanned nearly 50 years, she worked at Community General Hospital in Reading, PA; Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut; and Paoli Hospital outside of Philadelphia. She was highly respected by her surgical teams and was not only personally requested to provide anesthesia for their patients but to scrub in for VIP patients as well.
Maryann’s move to Philadelphia was prompted when later in life she started dating her beloved and future husband Thomas Hudson. She and Tom led an active life in Philadelphia often attending Phillies events at which they loved to dance. They shared their home with their loyal Vizsla named Kish, and Maryann brightened the house with her passion for growing Orchids, which she patiently nurtured.
As an active member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, she attended mass for many years with her Uncle Cliff and Aunt Irene (Snitzer) Schindler both of whom were cherished family and backyard neighbors.
Maryann was predeceased by her parents and by two of her siblings, Brother Michael Kushwara II of Warminster, PA and Sister Regina K. Evans of Naples, FL. She is survived by her Sister Barbara Kushwara of Frackville, PA as well as her nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
Services will be held at St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill, PA on May 18, 2024, followed by a private burial and luncheon for the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Randy Lownes of Lownes Family Funeral Home in Lafayette Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Philip Neri Church.
