Obituary of Lori Lyn Snodgrass
Lori Snodgrass passed away on May 21, 2024 at age 66 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her children Roger Peikin (Madeleine) and Aradith Peikin, grandson Jack Peikin, sister Bethanne Snodgrass, niece Marianna Montrie, and step-son Jeff Peikin. She was preceded in death by her parents Roger Snodgrass and Mary Ann Campbell Snodgrass and step-son Scott Peikin.
Lori was born on September 21, 1957 in Dover, Ohio and spent her early childhood in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Her family moved to Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania when she was in fourth grade. She graduated from Wissahickon High School in 1975. In 1980 she earned a bachelor's degree in horticulture from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, now part of Thomas Jefferson University. She married Steve Peikin in 1985 and moved from Glenside to Gwynedd. After their children were born the family moved to Chestnut Hill.
Lori saw the world with an artist’s eye. She was musical, loved her garden, was passionate about animals, and had a special interest in fabrics and textiles. She developed an interior design business, Lori Snodgrass Interiors, and became known for her creative thinking about interior spaces. She was an accomplished ceramicist, offering classes to children and adults in her home studio.
Lori was gregarious and fun-loving. She threw fantastic parties with live music, good food and better friends. She believed that beyond love, the greatest gifts she could offer her children were education, healthy meals, and opportunities to see the world. She traveled internationally and had a special fondness for the wildlife of Africa. She was an avid reader, especially of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and New Yorker, and she appreciated the thoughtful discussions with friends and family that ensued.
Lori was beloved by her friends for her sharp wit, intelligence, candor, ready laughter, and elegant sense of style. She was devoted to them and to her family, and she will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in memory of Lori to Jefferson Abington Hospital, Morris Arboretum and Gardens, or the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
