Obituary of Anne C. Sulock
Anne Elizabeth Sulock (née Connor), 78, passed away on September 10, 2024, at Keystone House in Wyndmoor, PA. She was born on February 2, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA to two physicians who established their practice in their Lafayette Hill residence that Anne called home ever since moving in at 3 years old. She was a beloved figure in her community and a source of unwavering support and joy to all who knew her.
Anne attended St Philip Neri for her primary education where she won a scholarship to Raven Hill Academy. She furthered her studies at Drexel University, where she embraced life-long learning (which is probably why she was so good at Jeopardy and any and all trivia or word games.). After her education, Anne dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mom, nurturing and shaping the lives of her children who led her to become involved in community activities such as the Girl Scouts, community and school soccer teams and ice hockey leagues, the PW marching Colonials, and the William Jeanes library where she volunteered in the Wine and Cheese and Jewelry Sale fundraising efforts. Anne was a devout and long standing member of St. Philip Neri, where she shared her faith with students as they prepared for Confirmation in the Religious Education Program. During the special liturgical seasons and holy days Anne spent many years working with a team of volunteers to decorate the sanctuary accordingly.
When it was time to return to the workforce she chose to work as a paraprofessional at Colonial Middle School until her retirement in September 2015. There she used her creativity, persistence, and good humor to guide the learning of students with special needs. Even after she retired she would find joy in watching the PW High School graduation to watch "her students" walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. The friendships developed with colleagues during those school years kept going strong after retiring, especially in her last years of challenges to her health.
Those who knew Anne will remember her for her caring nature and her ability to celebrate the successes of others as if they were her own. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, playing mahjong, cooking, and spending cherished moments at the shore with her family and friends. The holidays were especially special to her where she made sure to be with family, friends, and neighbors. Christmas was her favorite time of year where she hosted a Christmas Eve party for anyone and everyone (especially the neighbors) who were encouraged to stop by for celebratory drinks and extensive appetizers. The next day was reserved for Christmas breakfast with her brother and sister-in-law and then Christmas dinner with her husband's ever growing family.
Surviving Anne are her daughter Erica Sulock (Leon E. Jackson, Jr.), son Drew Sulock (Alix Buchter), and their son Sebastian Connor Sulock; brother Michael Connor and his wife Joanne Boyle; sister-in-law Karen Sulock; nieces Carol Matlack, Peggy Sulock Ricciuti, and Theresa Sulock; nephew Joe Sulock; along with many grand nieces and nephews and many dear, special friends. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Jane Elizabeth Snowden Connor and Forbes Britton Davis Connor, her husband Stephen F. Sulock, and many beloved in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A viewing will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 from 9:30-11:00 am, followed by a Mass at 11:00 am at St Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Ave, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444 with a luncheon to celebrate her life to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date.
