Obituary of Barbara J. Pierce
Barbara J (Becker) Pierce passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on September 25, 2024 following a brief illness.
Barbara was born in 1935 to Joy and Harry Becker. After graduating from Haverford High School, she attended the University of Delaware. She left Delaware to marry the love of her life, Charles Pierce, and travel with him on his Airforce assignments. She was committed to and thoroughly enjoyed being a stay-at–home mom for her 4 children,Larry, Rick, Deb and Steve.
When her husband became ill and then passed away at a young age, she had to re-invent herself to continue to raise and support her teenage children. She entered the workforce, and she became a manager of a mortgage banking company.
Barbara adored her 6 grandchildren: Max, Alex, Samantha, Andrew, Alyssa, and Lauren. She loved making forever memories with them like planning her annual Easter Egg hunt, playing with them on the beach each summer, and spoiling them endlessly. As they grew older, she remained one of their number one fans and biggest support, always checking in to cheer on their successes.
She had a witty humor that brought smiles to many, and a competitive edge that had her eager to get to her next Mahjong match. Barbara was a strong, independent woman who led her family, and her legacy of love, kindness, and humility will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Services to celebrate her beautiful, long life will be held at Lownes Family Funeral Home in Lafayette Hill, PA on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Visitation will be from 10am-11am, followed by a short service and then burial at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s honor to Covenant House Philadelphia.
