Christine “Chris” Monroe (née Petrokubi), 60, of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, after a long journey with dementia. Born on July 3, 1964, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Christine was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Carole Petrokubi (née Braun).
Christine is survived by her loving daughter, Amanda Monroe; son-in-law, Nicholas Kowalski; brother, Stephen Petrokubi; and her former husband, John Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Carole Petrokubi.
Christine was a talented artist, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Moore College of Art and Design in 1988. She pursued her passion for the arts throughout her life, finding joy in both personal and professional projects. In addition to her love for art, Christine had a deep passion for animals, particularly dogs and rabbits, and she was a devoted pet owner. She also cherished spending time outdoors, whether it was walking with her German Shepherd around the neighborhood or at Valley Forge Park. She also loved spending time on the tennis courts for a few matches with her friends. Christine will be remembered for her creative spirit, love for animals, and appreciation of the natural world.
There will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lownes Family Funeral Home in Lafayette Hill on October 4, 2024, followed by a service at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Christine’s memory to the Human Good Foundation in honor of the dedicated staff at Spring Mill Pointe who cared for Christine during her journey with dementia.
Christine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
