Obituary of Elinor G. McLeer

Elinor (Gilfillan) McLeer, age 88 of Harleysville formerly of Roxborough died Sunday (7/28) in the medical wing of the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville,Pa. She was a Home Maker most of her life raising her 5 sons. Mrs. McLeer was born in Phila., PA, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Louvie Gregory Gilfillan.She was the wife of the late George W. McLeer who died in 2007. Mrs. Elinor G. McLeer,also known to her many friends as" Daisy" was was born and raised in Roxborough and resided there until moving to the Peter Becker Community with her late husband George in 1995. Mrs. McLeer was a former active member and volunteer at Roxborough Presbyterian Church and was Chairwoman of their Womens Ministry. She also was a former Girl Scout Leader for Troop 78 at the church along with a Den Mother for their Cub Scout Troop. Mrs. McLeer was also sat on the board of directors for Interact and was the Neighborhood Chairman for the Roxborough Area Girls Club. She also was a former President of the Rivercrest Parents Assn. She is survived by four sons: George B. McLeer (Diane), David McLeer (Sharon), Kevin McLeer (Kathy), Robert McLeer (Karen) and daughter in law Linda McLeer. one sister: Ruth Michel one brother: James Gilfillan 8 Grandchildren,6 Great Grand, She was predeceased recently by her son Daniel and her siblings Ralph and Howard Gilfillan. Friends may call Saturday 8/3 from 9-10AM at Roxborough Presbyterian Church, 8230 Ridge Ave. Philadelphia, PA.19128. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Burial will in the Westminster Cemetery, Balacynwyd.
