Obituary of Elizabeth Allen

Elizabeth (Betty) Allen, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24th at Meadowood Senior Living. Betty was the loving mother of Peirce A. Hammond, III and Holliday Hammond, delightful grandmother of Allison Rudesyle, Peter & Gregory Hammond, Valerie Crews and Dave Crook and great grandmother of Kasey, Jeremy and Phoebe Hammond. She grew up in Narberth, PA and lived for 40 years in Lafayette Hill, PA before moving to Meadowood. A graduate of Lower Merion High School and Peirce Business School, Betty worked as a legal secretary until marriage to her first husband, Peirce A. Hammond, Jr. Later, she married Charles W. S. Allen and they were married for forty years. She & Charlie belonged to Whitemarsh Valley Country Club where Betty was an avid and accomplished bridge player and enjoyed playing golf. She also took pleasure in travelling and loved the Philadelphia Phillies & Eagles and watching professional golf. A Celebration of Betty's life will be held at Meadowood Senior Living, 3205 Skippack Pike, Worcester, PA 19490 on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Meadowood Nature Preserve at the address above.
