Obituary of John S. "Jack" Gabel

John S. "Jack" Gabel, age 83 of Ocean City NJ, formerly of FlourtownPa. died Tuesday (12/31/13) in the Einstein Montgomery Hospital in E. Norriton,Pa.
He was a Industrial Engineer and was the Executive Vice President in charge of operations for the Robert E. Lamb Inc. in Valley Forge,Pa. he had also worked prior at various large Pharmaceutical companies in NJ ,Pa. Delaware and South Carolina.
Mr. Gabel was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late John and the late Elva May Starkey Gabel.
Jack married Mary Ann (Ketcham) in 1953 and they just celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary.
Mr.Gabel was a proud graduate of Cheltenham High School where he was a member of the baseball team and the band playing the trombone. He then went onto Penn State Univ.
Mr. Gabel ,while living in Whitemarsh Twp. became a Township Supervisor and he was also a member of the Whitemarsh Jaycee's and the President of the PTA for Whitemarsh Elementary School.
Jack and his family enjoyed many years summering at the Jersey Shore and retired in Ocean City NJ
In Ocean City he was a member of the St. Peter's United Methodist Church,The Riverboat Club and the Yacht Club and was former chairman of the Ocean City Pops and the Married Couples Club.
Jack was also an avid reader, boater ,golfer and Bowler and will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by his wife- Mary Ann( Ketcham ) Gabel
three daughters: Kimberly A. Inacio (Fran) of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Kristen A. Varley (Simon) of Glen Mills, PA, Karlyn Kay (Doug) of Darnstown, MD
two sons: Ketch Gabel of Skippack, PA, Karl K. Gabel (Gretchen) of Collegeville, PA
12 Grandchildren ,
He was predeceased by a daughter-the late Kathryn Mae Gabel.
Jack was also survived by his loving dog Zoey.
Friends may call Saturday 1/4/2014 from 10-11am at Meadowood Retirement Community, 3205 Skippack Pike, Worcester, PA.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am at Meadowood
Burial will be private.
