Obituary of Richard McCuen

Richard McCuen, age 80 of Flourtown formerly of Barren Hill and Spring Mill., died Monday (4/28) in the Keystone House Hospice Facility in Wyndmoor,Pa.
Mr. McCuen was born in Barren Hill, PA, the son of the late Harold C. and the late Frances McGuigan McCuen. Former husband of Barbara Savidge and Virginia Merlo and was the clan patriarch of 88.
Mr.McCuen spent 38 years in the community newspaper publishing industry with the final 25 years as the publisher of 28 newspapers (weekly's) in the Phila. ,Bucks and Montgomery Counties and Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties in NJ while serving as the President of the Inetr-County Publishing Group in the 1990's.
Since retiring in 1993 as a columnist, free alnce writer,author of many golf articles/stories,Op-Ed pieces and publicity agent.
Dick served in many leadership positions such as Board member for Roxbrough YMCA, secretary/treasurer of the Roxbrough Business Assn,District Rep for the Pa.Newspaper Publisher's Assn. 2 terms sub-committee chair for the Governors Small Business Council,variuos historical societies and the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.
Mr.McCuen attended Penn State Univ. School of Landscape Horticulture and was a graduate of Springfield High School.
His life was dedicated to the care of his family and the support of his community.
He is survived by
two daughters: Beth, Melissa
four sons: Richard (Kent), Rodd, Michael, Matthew
five sisters: Nancy Wolfe, Anne McCuen, Kathy Disque, Marilyn Waters, Lenore Collins
11 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren.,
Predeceased by his brother-David Robert and James
Friends may call Monday from 6-7pm at Lownes Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA..
