Obituary of Jane C. Farragut

Jane C.(Brister) Farragut, age 86, of Lafayette Hill died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at The Hill At Whitemarsh . Mrs. Farragut was born October 22, 1928 in Ruth, Mississippi. She is the daughter of the late Shelby and the late Bonnie (Thurman) Brister. Wife of the late Kenneth D.Farragut Jr. who passed away in 2014. . Jane was raised in Pacagoula Mississippi and graduated from the Pascagoula High School in 1947 and wasa member of their track team and was an Olympic hopeful. She also was the head cheerleader for the Panthers. She met her to be husband Ken "Dynamite" Farragut from Moss Point High School at the beach and married shortly thereafter. Ken and Jane moved to Lafayette Hill after Ken was drafted by the Phila. Eagles in 1951. Jane was an active member of Messiah United Methodist Church and was a former bible school teacher there. She also was a member of the Whitemarsh Womens Club and the Curtain Callers Drama Club and was a star playing the role of Ado Annie in the play Oklahoma. She was a long time member and avid golfer at the Plymouth Country Club and was also a master bridge player. Jane was also known as the first lady of US Roofing and an excellent cook and a barrell of fun. She is survived by one daughter: Deborah J. Worstall (late Howard) of Blue Bell, PA. and two sons: K .David Farragut (Gretchen) of Ambler, PA., J.Daniel Farragut (Janet) of Blue Bell, PA.; Sister of three brothers: Thurman Brister, Shelby Brister, Thomas Brister; ; 8 Grandchildren,7 Great Grandchildren,. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, April 25 at Messiah United Methodist Church, 527 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. with Rev. Thomas Ebersole officiating. Entombment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting Calling hours will be Saturday, April 25 from 9-11am at Church, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah United Methodist Church.
