Obituary of Frank A. Mayer Jr.

Frank A Mayer, Jr. age, 90 passed away June 26 ,2016 in Lafayette Hill, Pa. He was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Frank A Mayer and Mae Glessner Mayer on October 29, 1925.
After Frank's service to our country in the United States Marine Corps he became a real estate broker and he was active in the real estate business for more than 50 years. He started his business in Philadelphia and later moved it to suburban Philadelphia partnering with his son Scott J Mayer and Scott's sons Jonathan and Christopher. Frank was extensively involved in his community with leadership positions in the Philadelphia Democratic Party, Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club, President of the Olney Businessmans Association, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and President of the Northeast Philadelphia Board of Realtors and he held leadership positions in the Montgomery County Board of Realtors. He was a Mason for more than 60 years. He belonged to Harry Houseman F. and A. M. Lodge #717 and he became a 16 degree Sovereign Prince , Princes of Jerusalem, then rising to his 32 degree. Frank was Potentate of LuLu Shrine. Other masonic organizations he led or had leadership positions in were the Valley of Philadelphia A.A.S.R., Dejoinville Council, Legion of Honor, National Sojourners , Scouting Association,Yacht Club,Provost Guard and the Quaker City/Montgomery County Shrine Club. Frank was also a fire policeman for the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Department and he was an associate member of the board for the Shriners Hospital and also served its ambassador.
He is survived by his daughter Janice M. Caplan (and husband Mark ) and Frank's two sons, Frank A Mayer III , (wife Jeanne ) and Scott J Mayer ( and wife Sandra) , niece Patricia (husband Fred Moore and their children) and nephew Michael (and his wife Karen Palermo and their children ), and as well as seven grandsons( Jonathan, Derek , Christopher, Jeffrey, Michael, Erik and Andrew), and three great granddaughters ( Ella, Kinley and Alice). He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Edna Coyle Mayer, as well his sister Florence M Mayr and his brother William Mayer.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the supporting and loving staff of the Masonic Village during Frank's illness.
A memorial service will be held on July 30, 2016 at The Masonic Village-801 Ridge Pike ,Lafayette Hill,Pa.19444
visiting hours start at 9am, followed by a Masonic Service at 10am and a religious service at 10:15am Internment will be private.
The family will be grateful for donations to the Shriners Hospital 3551 N. Broad St.Phila.Pa.19140 in lieu of flowers.
Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Family Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
