Obituary of Ileana Cuervo-Rubio

Ileana (Morales)Cuervo-Rubio passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Spring House Estates in Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania. She was 85 years old. Ileana (Lily) was born on June 16, 1931, in Havana, Cuba. She was the only child of Rosalina (DiCarlo) Morales and Roberto Morales. In 1956 Ileana and her late husband, Dr. Raul Cuervo-Rubio left Cuba for the United States, where Raul continued his medical training at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. She and Raul raised three children and lived and worked in Miami, FL and Maryland. Ileana attended the American Dominican Academy in Havana, and graduated with a fluent command of the English language. Her talents along with her bi-lingual abilities made her a valuable asset in the workplace. She retired from the banking and financial industry in 1994. In 2012, Ileana moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her children. She is survived by her son, Raul, her two daughters, Diana (Bruce) and Alina (Neil), and six grandchildren, Ryan, Caila, Carlos, Carmen, Roman and Ella. She was a beautiful, accomplished woman, and a devoted wife and mother. She will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be received at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, Maryland on Saturday, January 21st at 2PM.
