Obituary of Jane T. Andress

Jane Timmons Andress (October 7,1920-January 23, 2017) died peacefully in her home at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr, with her daughter Susie and granddaughter Christy by her side.
A lifelong Philadelphian, she attended Germantown Friends School and graduated, class of '38. She attended Hollins and Bryn Mawr Colleges and later graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston where she met her love, Philip M. Andress of that city.
After a stint as an Army wife during WWII she vigorously pursued a variety of volunteer opportunities, among them: American Red Cross Grey Lady, Braille book copier, and many others. Bilingual in French, she was a staunch member of Philadelphia's Center for International visitors, squiring visiting dignitaries around the city. It was as a member of this group that she and her husband were part of a delegation that, in the mid 1970s, visited China shortly after President Nixon paved the way. Jane and Phil Loved to travel and enjoyed doing "travelogues" for many groups in and around Philadelphia.
She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Susan Andress Morse, of Philadelphia, her son Dr. Philip M. Andress, Jr. of Bellingham, Washington, 5 grandchildren:Christina M. Kelly of Philadelphia, Sandra E. Andress, John T. Andress and Alison M. Walker of Bellingham Washington; Philip M. Andress III of Anchorage Alaska, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial was held for family and friends on Jan 31, 2017.
Funeral Arrangements are by the Lownes Family Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
