Obituary of Patricia Neal

Patricia Neal’s battle with cancer ended on December 11, 2022. She died at home surrounded by the family she so loved. 

Born to Shirley and John Neal, Patricia was one of five daughters they raised in the Bronx, New York. She was the second oldest and was adept at her job as a big sister. 

Patricia was raised in the church and often attended with her parents and sisters. She participated in the Saint Augustine’s Catholic Church youth group in the Bronx and also sang in the choir. Patricia was intelligent, a great reader and writer, and she had a sharp eye for details. She was a perfectionist, very organized and had a natural gift when it came to design aesthetics. 

When she grew up, Patricia gravitated towards the publishing and marketing industries. She worked for New York City magazines, met celebrities and loved the city atmosphere and hanging with friends. She traveled and attended countless events hosted by family and friends, and they knew they could count on her to be there for them. Her loyalty and helping spirit is legendary amongst her loved ones and those her life has touched. 

Patricia received her bachelor’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology. She was formerly a resident of Connecticut and died a resident of Philadelphia where she lived near her baby sister and elderly mother. 

Patricia was passionate about animals, loved to dance at weddings, to laugh, to talk and laugh again. She will be sorely missed, and her family and friends are stunned and devastated. 

She was preceded in death by her father, John, in 2020 and her aunts Mildred and Sally in 2021. Patricia is survived by her mother Shirley, her sisters Stephanie, Carol, Jo Ann and Johnette, her beloved nieces and nephews, her cherished first cousins, her Aunt Clara Chambers, and a host of other grieving family members and dear friends.
